Facilities Technician

Description

The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of school buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. This role involves completing work orders, monitoring building systems, assisting with events, supporting grounds maintenance, and collaborating with staff to maintain a professional and efficient school environment.

• Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally and push/pull 20 pounds frequently

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems

• Complete work orders for minor building repairs in a timely and professional manner, including bathrooms, lighting, classroom furniture, and other facilities; report major repairs to the Facilities Director.
• Utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to perform routine checks on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, security, and electrical systems.
• Set up and return facilities for school events, including lifting and arranging furniture, boxes, and cafeteria tables (minimum 55 lbs.).
• Assist with trash removal, recycling, and other janitorial tasks as needed.
• Perform minor landscape duties, including weeding, snow shoveling, ice melt application, and grounds upkeep.
• Assist with major facility clean-up projects during summer, including washing desks and chairs, cleaning walls and carpets, painting, and moving classroom furniture and curriculum materials.
• Operate and maintain maintenance equipment in good working condition.
• Interact professionally with staff, students, parents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Attend meetings as scheduled by the supervisor.
• Follow all school policies, including grievance procedures and emergency protocols.
• Work safely in a variety of weather conditions and perform duties requiring bending, lifting, climbing stairs, and prolonged standing.
