As a Custodial Support Technician, you play an essential role in ensuring that school environments are clean, safe, and ready to support teaching and learning each day.

You will work alongside a team to support custodial and basic maintenance functions, helping to ensure facilities are welcoming and operational. Position Summary

Performs general custodial, maintenance, and minor repair duties for District facilities, ensuring buildings are clean, safe, functional, and properly secured. Serves as the building custodial point of contact for evening events and supports daily operations, maintenance, and facility readiness.

Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts general cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of building facilities
  • Sweeps, mops, buffs floors, vacuums carpeted areas, and cleans restrooms
  • Cleans tables, sets up and breaks down lunchroom and event spaces, removes trash
  • Assists with lunchroom setup and cleaning as needed
  • Unlocks and secures building(s) and ensures facilities are properly closed at the end of the shift
  • Serves as the building custodial point of contact for evening events, including unlocking spaces, setting up furniture, and ensuring facilities are ready for use
  • Monitors building areas during evening use to support safe and appropriate facility access
  • Checks for needed repairs and performs minor maintenance as appropriate
  • Inspects building mechanical systems (e.g., boilers, HVAC, ventilation) and reports issues to appropriate personnel
  • Responds to special requests from building administration, staff, and facility users
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and custodial supplies in proper working order
  • Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
  • Performs outdoor maintenance including mowing, watering, snow removal, and playground/equipment checks as needed
  • Assists with community school activities as required
  • Documents and communicates facility concerns, maintenance needs, or issues observed during the shift

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of custodial and basic building maintenance practices
  • Ability to perform custodial duties and minor repairs
  • Ability to inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Skill in using tools, equipment, and materials of the trade

Qualifications

Required:High school diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Work is performed primarily in District facilities, including school buildings and occasionally outdoors. The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and varying temperatures, including outdoor weather conditions during seasonal maintenance activities such as snow removal and mowing. Work may occur during evening hours and in support of school or community events, and may require travel between District sites as needed.

This position requires regular physical activity with occasional heavy exertion. Employees must be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods throughout the shift. The role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis and lighter weights more frequently.
