Job Summary

Mountain Recreation is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance and operations of our recreation facilities and grounds district‑wide. The position oversees preventative and corrective maintenance programs, supervises maintenance staff and contractors, and ensures facilities, equipment, and building systems are safe, efficient, and well‑maintained. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical knowledge in facility systems, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating safe, welcoming environments for staff and guests while supporting high‑quality recreational experiences.

    Variable schedule based on operational needs; may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, split shifts, special events, emergency response, and on‑call availability outside regular hours.
  • Supervision

    Required:

    Works under the general guidance of the Superintendent of Recreation Facilities.
  • Supervision Exercised:
    Direct supervision, leadership, training, scheduling, and performance oversight for full‑time and part‑time facility maintenance staff.
  • Work Environment:
    Indoors at Mountain Recreation facilities and outdoors at parks, pools, sports complexes, and recreation sites in varying weather and environmental conditions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including sun, heat, cold, wind, snow, rain, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, loud equipment, and hazardous or caustic chemicals such as paint, cleaning agents, pesticides, fuels, and pool chemicals.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels in facility, maintenance, and outdoor operational environments.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting or moving items exceeding 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Physical activities include climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending, reaching, standing, walking, traversing uneven terrain, repetitive hand and foot motion, and prolonged periods of sitting or driving.
  • May require operation of maintenance equipment, vehicles, tools, and machinery both indoors and outdoors.

Salary

$71,012 – $88,766 annually DOE; staff are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and may pass the language competency test.
