Facilities - Maintenance Worker II

General:
This position performs proficiency in multiple types of maintenance work, such as but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical in the Maintenance Department with general supervision. Performs physical work for snow removal, grounds maintenance, and other special projects which also require use of specialized equipment and/or tools. All persons, with or without reasonable accommodation, who can perform the tasks required of this job description will receive full consideration toward the applied position.

Maintenance

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Snow removal from walkways, sidewalks and/or driveways of county buildings as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor using snow shovels, snow blower, loader (Bobcat) or plow truck
  • Grounds maintenance of all county facilities including trash removal, weed removal, sweeping, mowing, etc. as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor; performs work for landscaping projects, which may include the use of a skid steer or other specialized equipment
  • Facilities maintenance projects including painting, trash removal, replacing light bulbs, etc. as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Assist other Maintenance Workers and/or Maintenance Specialist with special projects including painting, plumbing, drywall, construction as directed
  • Other related duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor

Nature of Contact with Others

This position will primarily have contact with county staff only in performing the duties during working hours and with vendors occasionally. Some work will be performed during non-business hours and will have little contact with other people.

Responsibility for Property, Materials, Money and Confidential Information

This position will require the use of yard tools, lawn mower, snow blower, light tools, vacuum cleaner, mops, sweepers, brooms, carpet shampoo equipment and will have access to generally all county facilities during business and non-business hours. This position must be aware and follow procedures for building/office security. This position works with multiple cleaning products and is required to read all labels and adhere them using protective equipment provided.

If there are any questions about the use of protective equipment, the employee is responsible for seeking guidance from the supervisor.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

This position requires the ability to do moderately strenuous work on a continuous basis, both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work, such as window cleaning, might occur during cold, windy or other unknown weather conditions. Climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, bending and stooping, and pushing and/or operating equipment are required on a daily basis. Many duties require the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Some travel to other County locations is required. Physical demand requirements are for moderate work. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 100 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching and/or stretch arms, legs or other parts of body.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years’ experience in similar or related field preferred but not required
  • Completion of biohazards training within one year of hire
  • Completion of training and demonstrate proficiency operating specialized equipment within one year of hire
  • Must have Colorado Driver's License
  • Must pass background check

Special Requirements: 6-month probation period
