General Maintenance Laborer​/Custodial

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning, garbage removal/disposal from restrooms and common areas.
• Fully clean restrooms (floors, sinks, toilets, mirrors).
• Clean kitchen (floors, baseboards, counters, trash).
• Clean offices and classrooms (floors, counters, walls, trash).
• Perform general groundskeeping, sweeping, etc.
• Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
• Perform basic repair and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment as needed.
• Maintain a safe working area.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1‑3 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer

Skills:

Basic computer skills.

Other

Skills and Abilities:

Use of common hand tools to perform basic repair and maintenance on buildings, facilities, and equipment; ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple projects; effective time management, organization, and multi‑tasking skills.

Must be available to work some evenings and/or weekends. This is a safety‑sensitive position and participates in the Substance Abuse Program.

• Hands are required to finger, handle, or feel.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; also required to talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs; frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
