Custodial Staff
This is a second shift job, 12 months per year, with vacation days and 12 paid holidays, full benefits. Responsibilities include work that may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noise. The role requires the ability to bend, lift, stoop, and carry objects up to 60lbs or more without restrictions.
Authorization and willingness to pay for a National Background Check is required at a minimum cost of $24.90. Performs general, routine custodial duties including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, and restocking paper and soap supplies. Routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies is also part of the role. Emptying trash receptacles, disposing of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bagging trash for proper disposal are included.
Unlocking doors and ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas, as well as putting up signs to signal wet floors or other safety situations, are also duties. Reporting needs and concerns to appropriate staff, including submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels, is required. Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices, and performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures are also part of the job.
Assisting in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures and performing cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements are included. Preparing and maintaining athletic fields and gym floors, installing and maintaining athletic equipment, and assisting in refinishing the gym floor are also duties. Setting up for indoor sporting events, opening and closing bleachers, and raising and lowering basketball backboards are part of the role.
Providing vendors with access to areas for cleaning and answering basic questions, reporting issues with vendors to the Lead Custodian, assisting or performing snow removal activities, and minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and adjusting furniture are also included. Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned are part of the role.

Required:
Must be able to always put up a cheerful and positive attitude, must be willing to offer help to both staff and customers of the organization whenever it is needed, must be proactive when it comes to carrying out his/her duties, must be honest and truthful as he/she will have access to people's belongings, must be able to work for several hours standing, ability to understand verbal instructions, ability to understand and follow safety procedures, ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment, ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies, ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade, ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Position requires use of power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets, regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms, and routine maintenance of custodial equipment. Job requires lifting; carrying, pushing or pulling of up to 60 pounds, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Generally the job requires 5% sitting; 80% walking; 15% standing. Job is performed under some temperature extremes including interior and exterior exposure.
Frequent contact and exposure to Blood Borne pathogens and air-borne infectious diseases is expected.
