Maintenance Manager (Maintenance)
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities for the metals service center, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production equipment, material-handling systems, and facility infrastructure. This role leads maintenance personnel, manages preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and partners with operations to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
This position will oversee all maintenance for a brand new highly automated facility that is currently being built in Columbus, Mississippi.
Responsibilities and Duties- Strategic Planning & Maintenance: Developing, scheduling, and executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Facility & Equipment Oversight: Maintaining, repairing, and inspecting buildings, machinery, and electrical/hydraulic systems.
- Team Leadership & Management: Hiring, training, supervising, and motivating maintenance personnel, including technicians and janitorial staff.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Developing, tracking, and adhering to maintenance budgets, including managing vendor contracts and ordering spare parts.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all operations comply with state, federal, and company health and safety regulations, such as OSHA.
- Reporting & Data Analysis: Documenting maintenance logs, tracking performance metrics (e.g., KPIs), and creating reports to improve efficiency.
- Emergency Response: Remaining on-call to address urgent, high-priority maintenance emergencies.
- High school diploma or GED required, technical or trade school preferred
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems); ideal systems experience with Asset Essentials or Aetos
- Strong troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Analytical skills to troubleshoot problems and optimize processes
- Technical proficiency in machinery and facility systems
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities
- Excellent communication and vendor negotiation skills
- Experience in metals service centers or manufacturing preferred
