Job OverviewAirbus Helicopters is looking for an Aircraft Technician A – Avionics to join our Retrofit team based in Columbus, MS. You will perform work on assigned aircraft or parts in the avionic function, including fabrication, repair, installation of aircraft parts, maintenance and repair of helicopters and support of helicopter‑specific programs.
Employment TypeContract position (Agency / Temporary). On‑site work is required, 95% onsite.
Responsibilities- Perform assembly, installation, repair or replacement of aircraft electrical/electronic components and systems in the manufacturing of aircraft.
- Install electrical harness and sub‑assemblies in aircraft: identify wire and coax cable, clamp, bundle, mount, route, strip, splice, solder and terminate.
- Ensure installations are attached without endangering aircraft structure or system operation and function.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, vendor and service manuals and other source data to obtain dimensions, locations, alignment, tolerances and other specification requirements.
- Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment in completing work assignments.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working on avionics in aircraft, preferably rotorcraft.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modifications of aircraft structures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English.
- US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, Green‑Card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license).
- Onsite or remote: 95%.
- Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment, documents, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
- Equipment operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some production tools, including hydraulic lifts.
- Carrying and lifting: able to carry or lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kgs.
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings or working on the computer.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment: required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks and/or protective gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
- Administrative position only PPE: steel‑toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
