The City of Columbus has a current job opening and is accepting applications for the position of full-time Parks Maintenance Worker.

This is varied, semi-skilled work in a variety of public lands and building maintenance activities.

Work involves responsibility for performing a variety of general laboring and maintenance work in the care and upkeep of public buildings, park grounds, recreational facilities, and streets. Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks Superintendent.

• Operation of light and heavy automotive equipment, tractors, mowers, and similar equipment in the course of completing work assignments.
• Mows grass with small tractor, self-propelled riding mower, or hand mower; picks up litter; may spray weeds; fertilizes grass; applies insecticides and herbicides.
• Paints stripes on ball fields; prepares ball fields; picks up trash; cleans restrooms; cuts and trims trees, clears tree limbs, operates dump trucks to haul debris.
• Installs and maintains playground equipment in parks; performs park and building construction work as needed; sets up and moves bleachers to different park sites.
• Performs a variety of semi-skilled carpentry, masonry, electrical, and plumbing repairs at park facilities.

• Position requires that you maintain a Commercial Driver's License within 3 months of hire.
• Some experience in maintenance work related to the area of job assignment.
• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of trucks, mowers and similar equipment.
• Salary Range is $21.77 - $30.12
