Part-time Custodian

Primary Function The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts CAPA seeks two part time Custodians to maintain the integrity of CAPAs spaces by providing a clean and safe environment for all patrons and user groups Duties Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives Removes trash and replaces liners

Mops waxes and vacuums floors

Cleans windows that can be reached from the ground or with extending equipment inside and out Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and water fountains

Ensures an adequate supply of cleaning supplies is kept on hand at all times

Keeps the building exterior clean including hosing down entry areas and cleaning accessible lighting

Fills in at the receptionist desk as needed

Sets up rental space as needed by user groups Stages in house items for receptions on the reception level

Cleans the kitchen on the 6th floor and restocks with simple cleaning supplies

Cleans and sanitizes the reception level kitchen

Waters & maintains plants in the Boulevard Moves furniture such as desks tables chairs and equipment

Dusts fixtures walls and ceilings as directed

Operates various powered equipment in the performance of assigned duties

Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Simple knowledge of electricity and plumbing

Ability to follow established safety procedures and uses all safety equipment provided

Ability to take the initiative in areas that need immediate attention

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Ability to climb stairs and ladders

Ability to occasionally lift 70 pounds and more regularly lift 50 pounds

Credentials and Experience High school Diploma or equivalent

Previous custodial experience preferred

Must be available to work variable days of the week including weekends

Special Requirements Background check

The majority of CAPAs public events take place at night and on weekends This position requires occasional presence on site during nights and weekends and is on call 247 to respond to emergencies

The part time custodian will be scheduled to work 20 25 hours per week on variable days including weekends based on theatre activity Typical schedule will be Noon 5pm but could vary depending on theatre schedule Requests off will be considered when writing the schedule
