Custodian - SY

ACCEL Schools seeks a Custodian at Columbus Arts & Technology Academy (CATA) in Columbus, OH, to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the school building.

• Keep the school grounds safe, secure, and clean at all times
• Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance as prescribed by the custodial duty listing, including: removing trash, cleaning and wiping down blackboards, hand railings, doors, and other surfaces, changing light bulbs, vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning windows, disinfecting student and staff restrooms, assisting with food service area cleaning, painting, setting up and taking down lunch tables, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, maintaining external appearances such as parking lot, playground, sidewalks, and lawns, snow removal activities (shoveling, snowblowing, salting), buffing and waxing floors, preparing for special events (meetings, open houses), ensuring electronic security and emergency systems are working, reporting damage or wear to School Leader, reporting on extraordinary event days
• Willingness to accept training and apply learned skills
• Properly maintain all tools, supplies, and machinery used daily
• Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards
• Understand and implement school's philosophy and mission statement in all activities

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
• Ability to perform physical work in all weather conditions and lift/move up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to use outdoor and indoor cleaning equipment
• Ability to report to work outside of school opening hours
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in reporting to work as scheduled
• Knowledge of hazardous and bio-hazardous material disposal
• Basic knowledge and ability to perform simple electrical and plumbing repairs
• Experience in an urban setting is a plus

• Starting hourly rate: $16.00-$19.00/hour (may vary by location, skills, education, experience, and qualifications)
