Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Facilities Operations, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist, Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) is responsible for overseeing and conducting the regular maintenance and repairs, general housekeeping, landscape maintenance, snow and ice removal, vendor management, and equipment preventative maintenance of the CRC property, buildings, and equipment.
Reporting & StructureThe Facilities Maintenance Specialist, CRC reports directly to the Senior Manager Facilities Operations and has no direct reports.
Location & SchedulePosition is on-site at the Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) ASPCA location. Requires a flexible schedule of 40 hours/week (7am–3pm with one‑hour lunch Monday–Friday) and on‑call availability 24/7 for emergencies. Overtime or adjusted hours may be required during extreme emergencies such as severe storms.
SalaryTarget hiring range: $28.85 – $30.77 per hour. Actual pay determined by education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demand, and performance.

- Perform preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities to maintain/improve conditions, operational and mechanical systems
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and facilities including carpentry, plumbing, general repair, sheetrock repair, and light electrical work
- Use hand/power tools proficiently
- Manage the work‑order system for the site: create and address work orders, properly document repairs, and close out assignments
- Coordinate repairs to equipment and appliances; order parts and supplies per ASPCA procurement procedures
- Work with the Fleet Coordinator to schedule and transport vehicles for repairs
- Perform landscaping tasks, groundskeeping, and remove snow/ice as needed
- Plan, organize, and direct the general maintenance and repair of the entire facility
- Track and confirm all planned preventative maintenance is completed as contracted, cost‑effectively, on time, and to a safe satisfactory standard
- Analyze operations of site infrastructure systems; determine root cause of problems/malfunctions and take corrective action
- Inspect and monitor essential building systems for optimal operation
- Perform routine safety inspections for OSHA compliance; perform routine mechanical inspections in and around the facility
- Maintain and secure supplies inventory; maintain and monitor all fire life safety systems
- Follow ASPCA guidelines for vendor contract management; obtain and track vendor/contractor Certificates of Insurance
- Liaise with contractors and external suppliers to clearly communicate ASPCA safety, technical, and contractual standards
- Oversee facilities‑related projects as necessary; prepare weekly/monthly maintenance and repair reports
- Assist and coordinate work activities among departments; conduct orientation and in‑service training on policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Maintain product specifications and SDS sheets; update when necessary; report issues and discrepancies to supervisor
- Provide weekly updates to supervisor and on‑site program leadership as needed
- Interact with ASPCA leadership, supervisors, and program managers to communicate facility status, repair concerns, or potential improvements
- Support and participate in management initiatives from the Facilities Division and CRC Program Teams
- Support Senior Manager in forecasting and executing capital improvement projects
