Agency Overview:
The Ohio Emergency Management Agency is the state's central point of coordination for response to and recovery from disasters. When not in a response or recovery mode, our focus is to ensure that Ohio and its citizens are prepared to respond to an emergency or disaster and to lead mitigation efforts against the effects of future disasters. The Ohio EMA Radiological Branch team has the capability to respond to nuclear and radiological emergencies on a 24-hour basis;
we conduct nuclear power plant and transportation accident response planning and training as well as fostering support for the Utility Radiological Safety Board of Ohio (URSB). Within the EMA Radiological Branch, the Radiological Instrumentation, Maintenance and Calibration (RIMC) Lab maintains field monitoring teams that respond to nuclear power plant incidents and other incidents as needed in support of the Ohio Dept.
of Health. The lab also repairs, calibrates and exchanges radiological response instruments, meters, and equipment used by emergency services personnel in state agencies, Ohio counties, and other states as contracted.

• Assists in the repair, service & non-NVLAP accredited calibration of electronic radiation detection & monitoring equipment (e.g., radiation detectors, personal electronic dosimeters & pocket ion chamber dosimeters);
• Under direction of the Radiological instrument Service Manager & Radiological Instrument Tech 3, performs electronic radiation detection & monitoring equipment maintenance & repair;
• Keeps records of the field exchange & inspection of state-owned radiological equipment located throughout the state;
• Attends special equipment training as needed;
• Assists the Radiological Instrument Service Manager & higher-level radiological instrument technicians in maintaining inventory of equipment; to see full position description
