Agency OverviewThe Ohio Emergency Management Agency is the state's central point of coordination for response to and recovery from disasters. When not in a response or recovery mode, its focus is on ensuring that Ohio and its citizens are prepared to respond to emergencies or disasters and on leading mitigation efforts against future disasters. The EMA Radiological Branch responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies on a 24‑hour basis, conducts nuclear power plant and transportation accident response planning and training, and provides support to the Utility Radiological Safety Board of Ohio (URSB).

Work Hours:
7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (subject to 24‑hour call)
- Assist in the repair, service, and non‑NVLAP accredited calibration of electronic radiation detection and monitoring equipment (e.g., radiation detectors, personal electronic dosimeters, and pocket ion chamber dosimeters).
- Under the direction of the Radiological Instrument Service Manager and Radiological Instrument Tech 3, perform maintenance and repair of electronic radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
- Keep records of the field exchange and inspection of state‑owned radiological equipment located throughout the state.
- Attend special equipment training as needed.
- Assist the Radiological Instrument Service Manager and higher‑level radiological instrument technicians in maintaining an inventory of equipment.

- Satisfy Option 1: 30 months of experience in electronics and a valid driver's license.
- Satisfy Option 2:
Completion of an associate core program in electronics, electronics engineering, or electrical/electronic engineering; 6 months of experience in electronics; and a valid driver's license. - Or possess equivalent qualifications as the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Unusual working conditions: may require travel and on‑call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Requires a valid driver's license to operate a state‑owned vehicle or to provide own transportation.
