The Building and Mechanical Systems consultant develops, improves and oversees leads the Student Life Building and Mechanical Systems maintenance program, which includes, but is not limited to; maintenance, repair and replacement of domestic and sanitary plumbing systems, components and equipment, heating and chilled water systems, components and equipment, air quality systems and related systems, components and equipment, along with routine inspections of all related equipment to ensure proper functionality, including oversight of preventative maintenance of this equipment by both internal staff and by others.

Includes but is not limited to replacing fixtures and making repairs, maintaining and replacement of hydronic, domestic, and sanitary systems and related pumps and components. This position ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines on use, reclamation, and storage of ozone depleting materials, to include maintaining the required inventory and usage log.

This role uses the CMMS system to implement detailed preventative maintenance measures and continually updates/improves preventative maintenance programs for Student Life staff and internal and external partners. Additional expectations of this position include training and mentorship of maintenance staff in repair and replacement of building and mechanical systems equipment and reporting on services provided by internal and external partners. This position is subject to 24/7 call in when issues arise that impact the operation of our Residential, Retail, and Rec sports facilities and affect our ability to serve customers.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 6 years of relevant experience. EPA Universal Certification. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Desired: 8-12 years of relevant work experience; 18 months or 1,800 hours training in mechanical, pneumatic, and HVAC technology and 12 months or 1,200 hours training in programming and electrical circuitry; considerable knowledge of computers, digital controls, electronic and safety practices, HVAC and pneumatic technology
