Columbus, OH & West Jefferson, OH

Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours/week

Contract Length: 6-month contract with potential for extension or direct hire

Pay Rate: $22.00/hour

Position Overview

Job Summary

The Life Sciences Research team provides fast, accurate answers for discovery, safety and efficacy with our world-class facilities and ability to meet unique technical, development and regulatory needs for our clients. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Inhalation Technician. This position is 100% onsite located at Battelle's laboratories in Columbus, OH & West Jefferson, OH.

Responsibilities:

Activities may include some or all of the following:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, electromechanical interfaces, automated data acquisition and control systems, and associated instrumentation.
  • Assemble, modify, and fabricate mechanical components and equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Perform plumbing, tubing, pneumatics, and exposure system repairs as needed.
  • Assists with inhalation laboratory activities including in vivo and in vitro inhalation.
  • Assists with experiments involving aerosol generation and characterization.
  • Perform trials, tests, and experiments with direction of more experienced staff to support engineering, production, and R&D activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure reliable equipment operation.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Perform standard and non-standard tasks under supervision and guidance of more experienced staff.
  • Verify the accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of designs and test data.
  • Complete project work assigned within schedule and budget provided. Operate equipment and assist in calibrations and maintenance of the equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Work with hazardous materials and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance with the GLPs.
Key

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in related field; 1 year of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
  • Exhibits sufficient technical knowledge to perform routine assignments.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs
  • Ability and willingness to wear a respirator and work with hazardous chemicals
  • Applicant must be US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Naturally enjoys taking things apart, diagnosing issues, and repairing equipment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Comfortable learning new equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working in a lab environment and following written procedures
