Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy.
Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences) which has 210 beds, our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.
Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a temporary full-time Maintenance Mechanic who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents.
You will be scheduled to work Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00a.m.
- 6:00p.m.
Requirements include:
High School diploma, trade school or equivalent work experience.
Basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing knowledge.
Able to use hand and power tools.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintains building mechanical systems and repair of the building, grounds, equipment and utilities of the facility.
Completes all work orders and preventive maintenance forms as necessary.
Responds to the facility when called in on an emergency or snow.
Must be available to work overtime on an emergency basis.
Must be able and willing to aid residents and staff when needed.
Observe facility and departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in the facility’s fire and disaster plans.
Consistently meets performance qualifications.
