Substitute Custodian Position

Job Definition:
Under the direction of an immediate supervisor, the Substitute Custodian performs routine custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality within a school environment. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Example of Duties:
Sweep, mop, wax, and scrub floors. Dust, wax, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork. Empty and clean waste receptacles. Wash windows, walls, restrooms, and classroom heaters/screens. Sweep sidewalks and play areas. Move and arrange furniture and equipment as required. Clean drinking fountains. Replace light bulbs and replenish supplies. Turn off lights and secure doors and windows. Report repair needs. Watch for vandalism.

Operate power cleaning equipment. May perform limited grounds maintenance and minor non-technical repairs.

No prior experience is required. Knowledge of:
Methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work. Skills in:
Following oral and written instructions. Using standard cleaning tools and equipment. Performing manual labor associated with custodial tasks. Ability to:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
