Maintenance Laborer
The City of Concord Public Works Department is hiring Maintenance Laborers to perform a variety of duties pertaining to community betterment. Duties vary depending upon assignment. This recruitment is open and continuous, and the list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future part-time, limited term vacancies for up to one year, as vacancies arise. Maintenance Laborers assigned to Parks Maintenance will assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the City's parks so that they are well kept for the enjoyment of our residents.
Maintenance Laborers assigned to the Community Cleanup crew will assist in litter/trash pick-up, graffiti abatement and public outreach. The Public Works Department Public Works strives to develop and provide a variety of customer driven maintenance services and programs to protect the City's investment of infrastructure and public facilities and ensure the health and safety of Concord's community in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
Public Works provides services in the following five divisions:
Infrastructure, Parks Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Administration and Fleet, and Transportation and Signals.
What you will be doing:
Under direct supervision and independently, the Maintenance Laborer will perform litter/trash pick-up, restroom clean-up, general maintenance, leaf/debris pick-up, graffiti abatement, and public outreach, depending upon assignment. Part Time/Seasonal Maintenance Laborers are hired by the City's Public Works Department throughout the year, and on an as-needed basis. These are part-time/temporary positions, limited to 960 hours per fiscal year and provide no benefits.

Conviction History:
If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer.
If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with the City of Concord.
Driving History/Medical Examination/Drug Screen:
If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be required to demonstrate a clean driving history for the previous seven year period in order to qualify. You will also be required to pass a medical examination and a drug screen.
