The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a wide range of facility maintenance, repair, and light construction tasks across assigned sites. This requires practical skills and knowledge in trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting, light maintenance, and construction activities. The role may also include routine custodial work.

Shift
M-F 12:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Primary Job Functions
  • Perform general building repairs that do not require a specialized trade license, including painting, basic carpentry, light plumbing/bathroom repairs, and door and hardware repair.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and surfaces to identify maintenance, repair, or replacement needs.
  • Maintain the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces. Clean assigned areas including vacuuming and mopping floors.
  • Restock assigned areas and maintain utility supplies in utility/janitor closets; restock paper goods and soap regularly throughout the facility.
  • Support movement of materials within the facility, providing escort service for cash deposits, and complete necessary reports and maintain records and logs regarding situations in the facility.
  • Set up conference rooms and assist in organizing food and beverage preparation for meetings and events.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and notify appropriate staff after hours of problems that require additional personnel.
  • May perform additional functions such as opening and closing the facility, assisting with general clerk, inventory clerk, and maintenance specialist functions; assisting with snow removal and groundskeeping; moving furniture; responding to service/assistance calls for access control; monitoring alarm panels and security systems; preparing biohazard waste for transport; performing replacement of liquid nitrogen gases. The role may require work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Sort and prepare general U.S. mail and interoffice mail; prepare outgoing mail to be either stamped locally or prepared for stamping at a central location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Required:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Preferred:
    Job-related experience.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods, and perform constant arm extensions.
  • Busy environment with frequent interruptions and routine changes in work schedule.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but not to a level that is disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where the likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, and individuals from other organizations.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and maintenance as well as basic plumbing.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00. This position may also be eligible for a wide range of competitive benefits that can include but not be limited to medical, well-being, financial planning, and short-term incentive benefits.
