Description of Responsibilities and DutiesPerform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment and supplies; loading and unloading materials and laying out materials and equipment for projects. Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks depending upon area of assignment, including posting general notices, picking up litter and debris, painting curbs and walls, replacing light bulbs, emptying trash bins, and performing minor custodial work. Complete other basic repair or maintenance duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required QualificationsGraduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications- Safety and Compliance Awareness – ability to follow OSHA regulations, OEM guidance, and institutional safety protocols, including proper PPE usage.
- Customer Service Orientation – ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with students, colleagues, and external vendors in a residential campus environment.
- Inventory and Resource Management – skills to track, organize, and procure parts, tools, and materials as needed to support repair and maintenance functions.
- Adaptability and Flexibility – ability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment, adjusting to evolving needs, priorities, and service expectations.
- Communication Skills – ability to write clear service notes, emails, and reports; and to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Basic Computer Skills – including the use of email, digital forms, maintenance databases, and online vendor portals.
