Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance

Job PurposeTo be responsible and accountable for providing an efficient, cost‑effective and responsive maintenance/facilities support service for the building, services, and surrounding areas. To ensure all work undertaken within the facility is in accordance with the company safety policies and to support potential licensor customer visits in respect of facility and equipment requirements.
Responsibilities- Work with the Facility Supervisor to deliver efficient, responsive, cost‑effective facilities support services.
- Plan, design and perform construction projects as delegated by Facilities Manager.
- Report non‑conformance to SLA measures to the Facilities Supervisor.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance of property, including painting, grounds/car‑park maintenance, gritting, rubbish clearing, safety, and general site maintenance.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance of equipment, including technical performance servicing, and ensure appropriate maintenance/servicing records via PPM system.
- Assist in fire, evacuation, and emergency procedures.
- Attend on‑call duties when requested by Facilities Manager and support call‑out teams as needed.
- Respond to emergencies or urgent issues in accordance with company procedures (e.g., Business Continuity Plan).
- Continuously improve operations, reduce turnaround time in facilities repair and TPM, and work cooperatively to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Prioritize workload in ever‑changing situations and support adherence to environmental procedures, reflecting legislative changes.
- Develop and maintain professional customer relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, customers, and service providers.
- Ensure site security arrangements are always adhered to and maintain awareness of any changes affecting site security.
- Support potential licensor customer visits by reviewing facility requirements such as footprint, infrastructure, shop‑floor supply, HVAC, pneumatics, vacuum/fume extraction, and HSE conditions.
- Adhere to legislation governing employment (health and safety, data protection, equal opportunities, quality assurance) and ensure compliance with statutory and local policies and procedures.
- Undertake other duties as required commensurate with the role.
- Experience in a similar facilities role is essential.
- Experience in a similar construction industry role is essential.
- Experience directing and planning essential services such as maintenance, plant servicing, waste disposal, recycling, and security.
- Understanding of manufacturing/engineering (desirable).
- Knowledge of pneumatics, electricity, HVAC, and building management systems (very desirable).
- Strong awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work and respond to changing business priorities.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and facilitation.
- Capacity to work unsupervised under pressure and meet time‑scale commitments.
- Experience with lean methodologies, continuous improvement, and risk assessment processes.
- Proactive and positive attitude and willingness to work outside the role’s parameters for the benefit of colleagues and the company.
- Access to and/or working in the vicinity of aviation fuels, epoxy, and other industrial COSHH materials.
- Current valid driving licence, flexible working hours to support manufacturing site, and local residency for call‑out activities.
- Strong electrical background in 120/208/480‑volt systems, general maintenance experience in drywall, and an associate degree (preferred).
