- Public Works Department Seasonal Maintenance WORKER DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Posted: 02/26/2025 Location: Public Works Building Hiring Range: $17.54/hr to $21.93/hr (Seasonal. 10-15 Hours/Week. Fridays-Sundays)
Reports to: Public Works & Parks and Recreation Superintendents FLSA: Non-Exempt Essential Functions

• Assists with seasonal maintenance work, including mowing grass with a hand mower or self-propelled riding mower, operating a farm-type tractor with grass cutting and other attached equipment, trimming and watering lawns, trees, and shrubs; watering, fertilizing, and tending flower beds.
• Picks up trash and recycling in City parks and along roadways.
• Cleans restrooms at City Parks and ensures facilities are in proper working order.
• Drives or rides in trucks to haul materials and transport equipment to and from job sites. Loads and unloads materials and equipment from trucks and trailers.
• Performs minor equipment maintenance and repairs. Washes vehicles and equipment.
• Paints buildings and other objects.
• Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, asphalt and concrete repairs.
• Assist in the maintenance of streetlights, traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings.
• Helps with custodial duties at the Community Center as needed.
• Helps with pool maintenance and cleaning activities as needed.
• Operates various types of hand tools, including power tools and small equipment. Checks equipment prior to operation. Reports malfunctioning to Superintendent. Operates all machinery in a safe and judicious manner according to the manufacturer’s operation manual. Cleans and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to assigned equipment as needed.
• Responds to emergency situations as required. Participates in snow removal responsibilities as designated by Director of Public Works.
• Completes the assigned tasks / projects assuring for safety and that City specifications are followed. Assists with cleanup of site, equipment, and public works facility.
• As needed, calls for utility locates and performs excavation around utilities assuring for safety, thoroughness, and for professionalism.
• Communicates with Superintendent and other jurisdictions regarding project as needed assuring for professionalism.
• Assists with special projects as requested assuring for thoroughness, professionalism, and timeliness.
