St. Gabriel Catholic School in Connersville, Indiana, is seeking a full time custodian. This is an onsite role, Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends.
ResponsibilitiesMajor responsibilities and regular activities/essential functions.
- Performs general cleaning of church, classrooms, hallways, public bathrooms, meeting rooms, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, etc. on a regular schedule. "Cleaning" involves cleaning tasks such as dusting, cleaning fixtures, cleaning windows, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning sinks and toilets, removing garbage, and other related tasks.
- Performs light maintenance as needed, such as replacing light bulbs, batteries and cleaning fixtures and switches as needed; helping to replacing air filters on a regular basis.
- Performs scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc., as directed by principal or pastor/parochial vicar in accordance with parish maintenance schedule.
- Provides set-up and cleaning of facilities for evening and weekend activities as directed by principal or pastor/ parochial vicar as needed.
- Good organization and planning skills.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and to have complete mobility in the buildings and grounds.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position without creating a danger to self or others.
- Ability to work with minimal direction. Self-motivated.
- General knowledge and janitorial supplies and their application.
- Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to foster the Church's and School's mission.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience that allows the employee to perform the required work.
- Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and word processing documents; apps for mechanical and Paylocity, etc.
- Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
- Must be able to complete successfully the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training.
- Background screening required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, talk, feel, hear, and handle.
