The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
Responsibilities- Conduct diagnostics and repair of less complex maintenance problems.
- Inspect, approve, and document completed maintenance actions using drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical publications.
- Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor trends, analyze equipment requirements, and maintain records.
- Diagnose and repair GSE using conventional and digital electrical test equipment (multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers).
- Maintain external fuel and grounding systems and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine serviceability and proper operation.
- Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air; diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions.
- Disassemble, assemble, clean, treat for corrosion, and reinstall malfunctioning GSE components and accessories; stencil and mark GSE per technical publications.
- Store, handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental standards.
- Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment; operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment records; provide dispatch service for GSE in support of aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
- Maintain good housekeeping, hazmat, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety practices.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support overall mission and travel to other CBP locations if needed.
- Must obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US Citizenship required).
- High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Possess a commercial driver's license (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement.
- At least 2 years’ experience working full‑time on diesel generators and vehicles.
- At least 2 years’ experience on gasoline engines and vehicles.
- Proficient in Office software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel) and able to communicate via e‑mail and other software applications.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English and comprehend/interpret data.
- Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
Lifting at least 50 lbs.; must provide own tools. Work may involve inclement weather, dust, wind, rain, and high noise hazards requiring ear protection.
Compensation and PostingHourly Rate: $41.85. Original Posting: 06/09/2026 – Until Filled. Amentum anticipates this job requisition will remain open for at least three days.
