Prime Independent Living is seeking a hands-on, service-focused Maintenance Assistant to work alongside our Maintenance Director and help keep our community safe, beautiful, and welcoming every day.

As Maintenance Assistant, you'll serve as the right hand to the Maintenance Director
, helping with everything from resident service requests and preventive maintenance to apartment turns, grounds, repairs, and day-to-day upkeep. This is a hands-on role where no two days are exactly the same-and your work will directly impact the experience of our residents.

What You'll Do Maintenance & Community Operations
  • Assist with day-to-day maintenance and repairs throughout apartments, common areas, community buildings, grounds, and parking areas.

  • Respond to resident service requests and complete work orders in a timely, professional manner.

  • Assist with repairs involving HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, appliances, lighting, and general building maintenance.

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and welcoming environment throughout the community.

  • Support the Maintenance Director with daily priorities, projects, and maintenance needs.

Preventive Maintenance & Apartment Turns
  • Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance throughout the community.

  • Help inspect building systems, equipment, apartments, and common areas for needed repairs or maintenance.

  • Support apartment turnovers, including repairs, touch-ups, installations, and other work needed to ensure residences are move-in ready.

  • Assist with routine inspections and maintenance of community equipment and systems.

  • Report maintenance concerns and potential issues to the Maintenance Director.

Vendors, Contractors & Projects
  • Assist the Maintenance Director with coordinating and supporting outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.

  • Provide access and on-site assistance to vendors as needed.

  • Help ensure contracted work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to residents.

  • Assist with community improvement projects, installations, repairs, and other special projects.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness
  • Assist with maintaining emergency equipment and supporting emergency response procedures.

  • Support fire safety initiatives, inspections, and emergency preparedness efforts.

  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain safe work practices and promptly report potential hazards or safety concerns.

Supplies, Tools & Maintenance Areas
  • Help maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly used, maintained, and stored.

  • Assist with receiving and organizing maintenance supplies.

  • Keep maintenance work spaces clean, organized, and safe.

Resident & Team Support
  • Build positive relationships with residents through responsive, courteous, and professional service.

  • Communicate clearly with residents regarding maintenance needs and service requests.

  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Director and other departments to support community operations.

  • Assist with special projects, resident events, and operational needs as requested.

  • Serve as a helpful and dependable resource for residents, families, guests, and fellow team members.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, property management, hospitality, senior living, or related experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, painting, and general repairs.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from the Maintenance Director.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to maintenance needs.

  • Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move equipment and supplies as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Successful completion of background screening and drug testing requirements.
