Job Duties

Faith Lutheran Church, located in Coon Rapids, MN, is seeking a Facilities Manager to provide leadership, oversight, and hands‑on management of the church’s facilities, equipment, and grounds. This individual will help ensure our campus is safe, welcoming, functional, and well‑maintained in support of the ministries and mission of the church.

The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, organized, and calm under pressure, with a strong commitment to excellence and stewardship. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works well with a wide variety of personalities, and contributes positively to team chemistry and workplace culture. This individual should be confident and competent in their abilities while also being humble enough to ask questions and acknowledge when they need assistance or additional knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and motivating environment for staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with the Business Administrator to ensure rooms and facilities are properly prepared according to the church calendar
  • Manage and perform cleaning, maintenance, and repair of the building, equipment, and grounds
  • Maintain building lighting and assist with basic electrical upkeep; coordinate and work alongside licensed electricians to ensure safe and effective operation of facility systems.
  • Coordinate and execute room setups for ministry events and activities
  • Maintain organized and prioritized work lists in a fast‑paced environment
  • Supervise part‑time custodial staff, including scheduling, goal setting, evaluations, and annual performance reviews
  • Coordinate staff and volunteer activities to efficiently meet facility needs
  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships while ensuring quality service and responsible stewardship of church resources
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, volunteers, vendors, and church members
  • Enforce policies and procedures related to facility use, maintenance, and safety
  • Participate in staff meetings, Facilities Committee meetings, and other ministry‑related meetings as needed
  • Maintain accurate facility records and documentation in both paper and electronic formats
Minimum Education Required

High School

Boiler's License is required

Minimum Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5 years of facilities supervision experience, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting
  • Demonstrated maintenance and repair skills, including electrical knowledge
  • Ability to safely work at heights using ladders and lifts
  • Current Boiler’s License required
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain composed in busy or challenging situations
  • Acceptable background check as determined by Faith Lutheran Church
