Caltrans Highway Maintenance Lead worker

Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Lead worker helps the supervisor plan and schedule the work of the crew. In the field, oversees and leads the work of the crew engaged in highway maintenance work. The incumbent may be required to work overtime including nights and weekends and will be required work night shift during winter storm conditions.

The incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement, and a current medical certificate. The incumbent may respond to emergency call-outs. May be loaned to other cost centers.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEAD WORKER exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
