Custodian​/Porter Islander Housing

Position: Custodian/Porter for Islander Housing
- Performs general routine custodial duties to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning, sanitizing and supplying restroom facilities.  
* Wash concrete areas as necessary.  
* Clean carpets that are spread across common areas on property.  
* Occasionally clean carpets in occupied spaces.  
* May operate commercial vacuums, carpet shampooers floor scrubbers, and pool cleaning equipment with training.
* Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment.
* Ordering/Restocking custodial supplies.
* Perform and document routine inspections on safety equipment, emergency lighting.
* Reports maintenance concerns via work order requests
* Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
* Contributes to the team; exhibits professionalism with students, fellow employees, and others.
* Performs other related duties as requested and assigned.
* High School diploma or GED.
* Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum education requirement:
* Four (4) years of full-time related experience.
** Ability to travel between campus locations on short notice.
* Ability to communicate with clear written and verbal messages
* Ability to present a professional image
* Knowledge of safety equipment usage (e.g. AED, fire extinguishers, etc.), proper cleaning methods, and safety measures essential to the work environment
* Ability to work outdoors in temperature extremes, work with high noise levels, and must have the ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
* TAMU-CC Housing maintains a drug-free workplace.
* Maintain a valid Driver License.
* Previous professional cleaning, maintenance, or grounds experience is preferred
* Previous custodial experience in residence life or college housing
* Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) or Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)
