Job Summary
Custodian III – Day shift, full‑time, non‑exempt. Salary $2,962.92–$3,547.58 per month.
Location:
Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center, Corpus Christi, TX.
- Perform cleaning, dusting and disinfecting of resident homes, bedrooms, common areas and office spaces in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Inspect buildings and equipment, identify problems and coordinate follow‑up actions to maintain safety and cleanliness.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals, restock as needed, and manage minor repairs of custodial equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of supplies used and equipment maintenance.
- Assist the Custodian Manager with the overall safety and infection control program.
- Supervise or provide backup to Custodians I and II when required.
- Serve in on‑call or rotating shifts for emergencies, disaster response, or continuity of operations (COOP).
- Complete additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs of the facility.
Attend work on a regular basis and may work rotating or overtime shifts per agency policy. Maintain cleaning supplies, records, and perform minor repairs as required. Inspect buildings, oversee custodial staff, and ensure compliance with infection control guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and disinfecting of restrooms and shower stalls.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
- Proficiency in using custodial materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining building maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods, and work irregular hours.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co‑workers and residents.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; graduated from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) months paid experience in custodial/housekeeping work required; one (1) year preferred.
- One (1) year experience working with people having intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental health disorders preferred.
- Valid Texas driver license required; must obtain within 90 days if not currently held.
- Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and additional registry checks.
- Males 18‑25 must be registered with Selective Service.
- All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Random drug testing applies to all employees.
Work hours may require overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays. The position is not eligible for telework. Travel required up to 5%.
