Job Title
HVAC Specialist – Islander Housing Agency, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi
PurposeThe Mechanic HVAC Specialist, under direction, provides maintenance and preventative maintenance for HVAC equipment including boilers, air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, fans, and air compressors.
ResponsibilitiesHVAC Operations
- Operate and maintain the building automation control system for the Texas A&M University System.
- Locate and diagnose maintenance problems on equipment, conduct warranty services, and perform emergency repairs.
- Monitor chemical treatments for condensers, air-handlers, and vertipak systems to ensure proper usage and equipment efficiency.
- Operate pneumatic equipment for installation and repair of mechanical equipment.
- Assist in the design, installation, maintenance, or repair of HVAC systems.
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot failed components.
- Help develop a comprehensive energy conversation program.
- Provide an annual report and proposed plan of work.
- Ensure personnel receive safety and craft development training via online resources, seminars, and workshops.
- Operate a TAMUCC vehicle or golf cart to navigate worksites.
- Conduct routine inventory audits, implementing standard procedures for parts ordering and utilization.
- Analyze historical data and market trends to produce reports on stock purchasing habits.
- Attend to and close out work requests using the Star Rez application.
- Implement preventive maintenance for HVAC equipment, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and system checks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six years of related experience in HVAC, utility plant operations, and boiler/tower chemical treatment.
- Alternative qualifications:
Associate’s degree and four years of related experience;
Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience;
Master’s degree. - Knowledge of repairing various types of equipment.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations.
- Ability to measure accurate distances using a measuring tape or other devices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain a valid Driver License.
- Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure.
- EPA certification.
- HVAC certification.
- Mechanical knowledge.
Up to $28.84 hourly, up to $59,987.20 annually, approximately.
