Overview

The Airport Maintenance Specialist performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, operation, and instruction of critical airport systems and equipment, including but not limited to HVAC, airport jet bridges, autoclave garbage sterilizer, car wash systems, fueling systems, and vacuum systems. Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of the Quick Turnaround Facility building and systems, to include light custodial and maintenance of restrooms, offices, common areas, parking areas, covered operations areas, and maintenance bays.

Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all CCIA jet bridges, including but not limited to, packaged air conditioning units (PACU's), rooftop AC's, ground power units (GPU"s), and all electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment associated with them. Also, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, operation, and the instruction thereof, for the Auto-Clave sterilizer, boiler, soft water cabinet, and chemical dispensers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance as suggested by manufacturers of equipment and systems including HVAC systems, frequency drivers for aircraft power and passenger boarding bridge systems, autoclave sterilizer, quick turnaround facility systems and equipment, and hydraulic lift systems
  • Minimize degradation due to age, exposure, corrosion, and heavy use
  • OEM parts for the passenger boarding bridges, quick turnaround facility systems, and sterilizer can be difficult to locate and may be discontinued
  • An in-depth understanding of the part and its function is required to be able to locate replacement parts for the equipment
  • Work with Maximo and department colleagues to identify, schedule, troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment or systems
  • Requires the ability to read and understand complex schematics for the control, power conversion, HVAC and steam generation systems
  • Ability to interpret error codes provided by the diagnostic systems to pinpoint the items requiring attention
  • Monitor and maintain the chilled and condenser water treatment system while maintaining close collaboration with the contracted water treatment consultant
  • Additionally, monitor, maintain and repair the plant boiler system as required
  • Procure through P-Card and assume responsibility of City owned materials. Coordinate with supervisor and other trades for the purpose of operating projects and work with others efficiently
  • Completes monthly reports for consumables for the QTA
  • Works with Supervisor to update manuals and SOPs related to Facilities and personnel
  • Evaluates and recommends new products that may be beneficial to lower maintenance and operating costs of City HVAC equipment by analyzing current data against new product data for comparison; compiling reports for review by department head for final analysis
  • Proactively communicate with Facilities Supervisor and stakeholders before impacting systems, including reducing or removing operational capacity of the system or equipment, timelines, expectations, and update when details change
  • Perform tasks necessary to install, modify, maintain, repair and/or overhaul all air conditioning units and refrigeration equipment by troubleshooting malfunctioning or inoperative equipment; reading blueprints and schematics to determine operating sequences of equipment and wiring system; changing oil, belts and filters; monitoring oxygen and carbon dioxide levels; clean coils and drain lines
  • Performs preventive maintenance by periodically inspecting equipment to locate and correct problems prior to equipment failure and advising management of equipment condition and the need for repair to ensure proper operations of systems
  • Maintain daily logs and documents any trends that could indicate the potential for future equipment issues
  • Communicates any findings and recommendations for corrective action to internal customers
  • Reports all findings to Facilities Supervisor or Manager
