Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment. This role focuses on general maintenance and mechanical tasks and does not require an electrical background.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine building maintenance, including basic repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, locks, and fixtures
- Conduct preventative maintenance on facilities, tools, and equipment
- Complete minor plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, and clearing drains
- Perform painting, drywall patching, basic carpentry, and general repairs
- Maintain building exterior and grounds, including light landscaping, snow removal, and trash disposal (as applicable)
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and workspace reconfigurations
- Monitor building conditions and report larger repair needs or safety concerns
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and tools
- Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and general repair skills
- Ability to operate hand tools and basic power tools safely
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or office facilities
- Familiarity with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support tasks
- OSHA safety training or similar certifications (preferred but not required)
Work Environment:
- Primarily onsite in a facility or building setting
- May involve indoor and outdoor work
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs
