Job Summary

This role fills a full‑time Custodial Services Coordinator position for the Memorial Union at Oregon State University (OSU). The Coordinator oversees custodial staff, schedules work, maintains facilities, and ensures cleaning standards meet expectations across nine buildings.

Key Responsibilities

50% General Cleaning
:
Performs routine cleaning inside and outside nine buildings; sanitizes bathrooms; dries, sweeps, mops, buffers, vacuums, and waters carpets; shovels snow; cleans windows; disposes trash and recyclables; operates vehicle as needed.

20% Coordinates Custodial Work
:
Creates staff schedules for static shifts, events, or projects; calls substitutes; trains new personnel; assigns work; maintains safety standards; schedules deep cleaning; ensures staffing needs met.

10% Floor Maintenance
:
Trains staff to maintain hard‑surface floors; extracts carpet stains; operates buffers, carpet extraction machines, and powered scrubbers.

5% Monitors Building and Exterior Event Space Standards
:
Inspects work; retrains staff; reports substandard work.

Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials; coordinates requisitions; reports missing furniture or equipment; performs minor maintenance on equipment and building; submits work orders using CMMS; moves furniture; performs other duties as assigned.

Two years of experience in custodial services work.

The role requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; the incumbent must complete a motor vehicle history check, possess a current valid driver’s license, and self‑report convictions as per University Policy 05‑030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position works in a variety of facilities including public lounges, bowling lanes, food services, childcare centers, office spaces and outdoor locations. The role interacts daily with customers, students, and Memorial Union staff. The schedule is primarily Tuesday through Saturday when classes are in session and Monday‑Friday during academic breaks. The position is deemed essential and may require reporting during inclement weather, emergency and other university work curtailments or closures.
