Senior Maintenance Worker

The City of Costa Mesa is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Maintenance Worker to join our talented Public Works team!

THE POSITION:

Senior Maintenance Workers perform semi-skilled and limited skilled work in the maintenance, repair and minor construction of municipal landscaped areas such as parks and parkways, streets and sidewalks, storm drains, buildings and related facilities. Incumbents perform manual tasks and operate a variety of power tools and medium to heavy-duty automotive and related equipment. Duties may include giving guidance and direction to lower-level maintenance workers and supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the assigned Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

There is currently one (1) full-time vacancy in the Maintenance Services - Streets Division.

Performs non-journey level work in landscape, irrigation, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, concrete, painting and other similar maintenance and repair trades.

Operates a variety of tools and equipment related to the area of assignment.

Responds to emergency requests during and after working hours.

May act as lead worker and have supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the assigned supervisor.

Performs other related work as required.

When assigned to Streets and Storm Drains:

Manual labor tasks in the maintenance, repair and minor construction of streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, traffic signs, and channels and related facilities.

Performs concrete installation as related to curbs, sidewalks, concrete pads, culverts and walkways.

Performs asphalt installations including complete residential paving rehabilitation projects.

Inspects and maintains drainage facilities.
