The Residential Building Services Worker performs a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks throughout large residential communities housing 1,200+ residents. Duties include scheduled summer projects, conference and orientation cleaning, on‑call and weekend shifts, and additional responsibilities as required.
Key Responsibilities- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize all areas of residence halls, including bathrooms, floors, furniture, kitchens, laundry rooms, and common spaces.
- Remove trash and recyclables; clean trash cans and recycle bins.
- Maintain consumable supplies in restrooms, kitchens, breakrooms, and public spaces.
- Track and maintain custodial supplies.
- Participate in the Residential Building Services on‑call program and weekend shift work.
- Perform deep cleaning of residence halls during the summer and during New Student Orientation and conferences.
- Assist with moving stock items and maintaining cleanliness during campus events.
- Participate in required building services after‑hour on‑call program and training.
- Complete other duties consistent with the position scope.
- Climb stairs and ladders, often working from a ladder.
- Bend at the waist and knees; use arms and hands overhead.
- Stand, kneel, or squat for long periods.
- Use hand and power tools.
- Lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors with steam/humidity or hot/cold conditions and outdoors in varying weather.
- May be required to report to work during inclement weather or emergency situations.
- Contact and instructions will come from supervisor or designee via phone or email.
- Designation reviewed annually.
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred: Ability to safely operate custodial equipment, independence in task completion, effective communication, teamwork, and computer proficiency (One Source, Microsoft Office, UGA email). Experience with security protocols and participation in shift work are also valued.
