We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role as Equipment Operator 2 within the Division of Forestry, headquartered at Blue Rock State Forest, assigned to Muskingum County.

Job requirements:

Class A CDL with no restrictions.

• Operate heavy motorized equipment to complete a variety of construction and maintenance functions.
• Perform wildfire support such as forest fire line construction, trails, culverts, roads, and bridges.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings/grounds.
• Assist with wildfire suppression and prescribed fire support.
• Start hourly pay of $21.64/hr with multiple pay increases over the first 3.5 years of service, ending salary of $23.91/hr.
• Cost of living adjustments may apply. Longevity pay supplements begin after five years of state service.

Formal education in arithmetic including fractions, decimals, and percentages, and reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary; nine months of training or nine months of experience operating heavy motorized equipment (e.g., 7 ton dozer, 8-10 ton roller, concrete mixer, excavator, low-boy, vacuum all or 10 ton sweeper, 10 ton tractor, 25,000 to 35,000 pound dump truck) and related safety practices; valid commercial driver’s license.
