BUILDING SERVICES WORKER II

Position Summary:

The Building Services Worker II duties include sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping of floors, high and low dusting of horizontal and vertical surfaces, use of small custodial equipment (vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, T-1 scrubber), cleaning windows and seals, walls, furniture, and other equipment, collecting and removing trash and recyclable waste, securing and unlocking university buildings, assisting with delivery and transportation of supplies, cleaning classrooms, laboratories, offices, breakrooms, recreational and fitness buildings, laboratories, clinics, etc.

The role also involves cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting surfaces and performing bodily fluid clean-up or specialized viral/bacterial disinfection with a blood borne pathogen kit. May perform minor light bulb replacement from an 8’ ladder. Additional floor care involves large specialized equipment such as carpet cleaning and extraction, strip/wax/burnish floors, and refinish wood floors.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Able to work Monday-Friday from 5:30 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.; night time position.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Push and pull custodial carts up to 40 lbs.
  • Load and unload floor care machines up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequently bend, squat, lift, kneel, and work with hands above head.
  • Prolonged walking to and from buildings.
  • Move throughout buildings, climb stairs, ride elevators, use 8 ft ladder.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform floor care with large specialized floor care equipment.
  • Safe operation and operator level maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Sweep, dust, wash, wet/dry mop, light floor maintenance, vacuum.
  • Collect and remove trash and recyclables, clean and disinfect counters, restroom fixtures, equipment, and furnishings.
  • Perform bodily fluid clean-up, specialized viral/bacterial disinfection.
  • Perform minor light bulb replacement from 8’ ladder.
  • Conduct walk-through area/building inspections for cleanliness, conduct cleaning equipment inspections for safety hazards, and complete inspection reports to submit to lead/supervisor.
  • Clean and restock restrooms; ensure adequate stock of resupply items in janitorial closets.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 5:30 p.m.

-2:00 a.m.; essential worker; nights and weekends may be needed; optional on call rotation.

Employment Type:

Full Time, FLSA Non-Exempt; 100% FTE.

Benefits:
