This position is only open to Colorado state residents.

New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

The General Labor I position works in Craig, CO at the CDOT Craig Main Complex and Hayden Rest Area.

Major Duties
  • Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum throughout the CDOT facility
  • Use of carpet shampooers, power floor strippers and buffers as necessary to maintain the floors
  • Clean breakrooms, conference rooms, and storage rooms as needed
  • Trash removal
  • Clean bathrooms. Fill dispensers, wash walls, disinfect urinal, toilets, clean sinks, mirrors, fans and vents.
  • Deep clean bathrooms monthly
  • Clean and sanitize water fountains and countertops
  • Wash windows (inside monthly and outside monthly when weather permits)
  • Perform cleanup of the meeting rooms, including but not limited to emptying or recycling trash, cleaning whiteboards and wiping/sanitizing furniture and counters
  • Clean light panels as needed
  • Occasional painting may be required
  • Maintain grounds. May need to use shovel, rake, chain saw, water hoses, handsaws, tree trimmer, weed whip, hand mower or riding mower, brush chipper and weed sprayers.
  • Cut weeds
  • Repair and paint picnic tables
  • Sweep around buildings
  • Sweep sidewalks
  • Empty trash cans
  • Clean and stock restrooms
  • Water trees and flowers
  • Pick up trash
  • Snow removal from walkways and entryways during winter months
  • Monitor parking areas, grounds, meeting/conference rooms to ensure safety, order and cleanliness. Removing any hazards, cleaning up any spills, removing items from walkways and surfaces and emptying trash as needed
  • Keep storage shed in neat and safe condition
  • Work with the priority of safety over production for self, co-workers, and the traveling public at all times
  • Maintain current knowledge of and abide by all safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks as well as any chemicals for each situation

    Wear appropriate PPE, such as shields, helmets, gloves, earplugs, eye protection, leathers, etc.
  • Keep work area clean
  • Ensure proper storage of materials and supplies
  • Maintain safety consciousness and situational awareness
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
  • Primarily Monday-Friday work hours
  • May be required to work outside of normal scheduled hours to assist with snow removal and special events as needed and to assist with building emergencies.
  • Required to operate CDOT vehicles
  • Required to exert 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force regularly to move objects.
  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
