Role Description

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at Arcadia Assisted Living in Crofton, MD. This role is responsible for supporting the overall upkeep, safety, and appearance of the community, including resident rooms, common areas, and building systems. Day-to-day tasks may include performing basic repairs, assisting with preventative maintenance, responding to maintenance requests, and coordinating with vendors as needed.

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant helps maintain cleanliness and order in maintenance areas, monitors supplies and equipment, and follows safety and compliance guidelines. This position works closely with the care and operations teams to ensure a comfortable, well‑maintained environment for residents and staff.

Qualifications
  • Ability to perform basic building maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, light plumbing, and routine equipment checks.
  • Understanding of safety practices, including proper use of tools, adherence to OSHA guidelines, and awareness of infection control in a care setting.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with care staff, residents, and external vendors.
  • Commitment to providing respectful, resident-centered service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in building or facilities maintenance, especially in healthcare or senior living, is preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry materials as required, and work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends if needed.
  • Willingness to learn new maintenance procedures and participate in ongoing training and development.
