Maintenance Technician - 1st or 2nd Shift

This role oversees and participates in daily maintenance operations on 2nd shift within a food manufacturing environment. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and facility systems to support safe and efficient production.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and work alongside a team of maintenance technicians, providing training, guidance, and ongoing support.
  • Create and manage technician schedules to ensure adequate coverage across 2nd shift and variable production demands.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to support professional growth and high performance within the maintenance team.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and keep all equipment in safe and reliable working order.
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance operations and align maintenance resources with changing production schedules and priorities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and facility issues using structured root cause analysis methods.
  • Diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and other industrial systems to restore equipment functionality.
  • Coordinate specialized repairs, upgrades, and capital projects with external contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations and lead safety training initiatives for the maintenance team.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by modeling safe work practices and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, logs, and equipment histories within the CMMS.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance performance and equipment reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) programs.
  • Collaborate closely with production and other departments to minimize downtime and improve equipment uptime.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely availability of parts, equipment, and services.
  • Support adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food manufacturing standards in all maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience supervising or leading maintenance technicians or similar technical teams.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and facility systems.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs in an industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in production equipment.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and related software tools.
  • Experience working with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food manufacturing standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using root cause analysis to resolve recurring equipment issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Solid understanding of safety standards and safe work practices in industrial maintenance.

  • Experience in a bakery or similar warm production environment.
  • Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and mentor a maintenance team.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external contractors.
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Vendor relationship management experience for parts, equipment, and service procurement.
