Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to act as a liaison between the public, park visitors, and the Parks & Recreation Department while performing general maintenance and operational support at parks and recreational facilities. This position assists with facility preparation, visitor services, grounds maintenance, and park operations to help provide safe, clean, and enjoyable outdoor recreation experiences.
Essential Functions- Monitors parks and recreational facilities, including outdoor activity areas, buildings, and trails; unlocks and secures facilities and prepares them for park users’ enjoyment, provides customer service, and monitors activity of park users according to park ordinances and facility rules.
- Performs general maintenance work involving grounds maintenance, custodial maintenance and general building maintenance, which may include cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, or disinfecting toilets/sinks, and disposing of litter from facilities and grounds.
- Monitors and inspects park facilities to identify problems, needed repairs, or other situations requiring attention such as vandalism and facility issues, and reports problem situations to supervisor.
- Operates a variety of hand tools associated with projects and work activities.
- This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position, subject to random drug and alcohol testing and other testing methods as stated in county policies.
- Can perform clerical work, simple math, and has basic computer skills.
- Must wear staff clothing provided to the work site.
- Willing to work outdoors or indoors, flexible hours, nights and weekends.
- Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
- 16 years of age or older with the ability to perform all essential position functions.
- Effective communication skills with the public and co‑workers.
- Neat grooming and willingness to wear and maintain county‑issued clothing.
- Willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions and be present and punctual on all scheduled days.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- 0–4 years: 20 days per year – 6.16 hours per pay period.
- 5–14 years: 25 days per year – 7.70 hours per pay period.
- 15+ years: 30 days per year – 9.24 hours per pay period.
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving (2), and Christmas (2).

The vision plan offered by Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is administered by Aetna and will offer office visit copays for exams, as well as copays for lenses, frames, and contacts.
Basic Life & AD&D InsuranceA County‑paid term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment protection for each full‑time employee.
Disability InsuranceShort‑Term: 60% of weekly earnings up to $1,000 per week; eligibility begins 14 days after an accident or sickness, with a benefit period of 24 weeks.

Years 5 through 10The County continues its automatic “seed” contribution of 5% of pay, matches up to the first 5% of pay that you contribute, then adds a 50% match up to the next 5%.
After 10 Years of ServiceYou continue to receive a 100% County match on the first 5% of pay you contribute, and 50% on the next 5% of pay you save. The automatic contribution the County makes to “seed” your account each year increases to 7.5% of your pay.
