POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational support of all building systems and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained property. This role performs routine and preventive maintenance, responds to work orders, and supports the overall physical integrity of the hotel. The Engineer contributes to Coury Hospitality’s commitment to safety, reliability, and exceptional guest experience through efficient and professional maintenance service.
PRIMARYJOB DUTIES
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
- Respond promptly to guest and internal maintenance requests and work orders.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to ensure proper functioning of equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to lighting, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, and general building maintenance.
- Inspect property systems and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure operational reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, repairs completed, and parts used.
- Assist with maintaining safety systems including fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency equipment.
- Support room readiness by completing repairs in guest rooms and public areas efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, mechanical rooms, and storage spaces.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for events, meetings, and special functions as needed.
- Communicate effectively with engineering leadership and other departments regarding maintenance needs.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations in a timely and effective manner.
- Assist with inventory tracking and proper use of tools, parts, and supplies.
- Support sustainability initiatives and energy conservation efforts.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Further tasks may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of maintenance or engineering experience in hospitality or related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and building codes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 75 pounds.
- Exposure to mechanical rooms, heat, cold, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Use of ladders, lifts, tools, and equipment required.
