Description
The Seasonal second‑shift Janitor will physically perform janitorial tasks, including cleaning/stocking restrooms, emptying trash on the property and in offices, and working in all weather conditions. This role requires a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to meet goals and deadlines.
Work ScheduleThe work schedule is mainly five days a week, including weekends. This Seasonal position will work the second shift from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. This position may work 40 hours per week but is classified as a seasonal position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform routine janitorial maintenance as specified by the Supervisor, including cleaning/stocking restrooms, emptying trash cans, cleaning offices, monitoring property for trash on the ground, etc.
- Assist with dispensing supplies. Deliver supplies to sites across the Garden. Log all supplies dispensed to assist with accurate inventory.
- Identify and report any problems with facilities as needed (i.e., leaks, broken items, maintenance issues, etc.).
- Safely operate and be responsible for minor maintenance of janitorial equipment used; assure equipment is secured at the end of each day and ready for use the following day. Notify supervisor of any supply needs.
- Monitor equipment and report repair needs as appropriate.
- Meet janitorial project completion schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Assist in group and special projects as required. This could include power washing, carpet cleaning, general equipment repairs (replacing scrubber pads, cleaning vacuums, changing filters and belts, etc.).
- One (1) year of relevant experience, which is to include manual labor. 1–3 years of janitorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and chemical usage is a plus.
- Professional communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs; repetitively bend/stoop, move across the property, and work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Must pass all pre‑employment requirements including a background check, drug test, and physical examination.
- Basic communication skills; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Teamwork and diplomacy with guests.
- Dependable, self‑starter.
