Day Janitorial Position

The day janitor is primarily responsible for the day to day cleaning and supplying designated areas, performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities. The goal is to ensure the interior and exterior of the buildings are sanitary and free of debris and keep our buildings in a clean and orderly manner.

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma, preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

• Proven work experience as a janitor
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
• Familiarity with Materials Safety Data Sheets
• Integrity and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sanitization of restrooms and breakrooms, emptying of trash, etc.)
• Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones.
• Maintain outdoor grounds from trash and debris, as needed.
• Replenishment of consumables (paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.)
• Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
• Notifying management of occurring deficiencies, needs for repair or unsafe conditions.
• Operate floor equipment including but not limited to scrubbers.
• Maintain and stock cleaning inventory.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work with frequent interruptions, maintaining emotional control under stress. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
