What Does a Maintenance Technician Do?

Maintenance Technicians play an important role in keeping our apartment communities operating safely, efficiently, and at a high standard. They respond to resident service requests, troubleshoot and complete repairs, prepare apartment homes for new residents, and help maintain the overall condition of the community.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Completing resident service requests promptly and professionally
  • Troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and other apartment systems
  • Performing general repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the community
  • Preparing vacant apartments for new residents, including completing repairs and ensuring homes are move-in ready
  • Inspecting apartments, common areas, and building systems for maintenance needs
  • Assisting with the upkeep of community amenities, grounds, and common areas
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas
  • Providing professional and courteous service when interacting with residents
  • Working closely with the onsite team to keep the community operating at a high standard
Schedule Expectations

Maintenance Technicians work a five-day schedule and participate in a rotational on-call schedule to respond to after-hours emergency maintenance needs.

What We Look For

Previous apartment maintenance experience can be valuable, but relevant hands-on experience from other industries may also be a great fit.

We're looking for individuals who bring:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • A hands-on approach and genuine interest in repairing and maintaining things
  • A strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organization and follow-through
  • A professional and respectful approach when interacting with residents and coworkers
  • The ability to perform physically active work and use tools and equipment safely
  • Previous experience in apartment maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, construction, facilities maintenance, or a related skilled trade is a plus
  • Valid driver's license
