Parks Maintenance Foreman

Works as the manager of the maintenance division of the Danville Parks and Recreation Department:

• Plan, organize, and coordinate maintenance projects and activities for parks, park facilities, parkways, playgrounds, and related areas.
• Assist with scheduling work projects and determining appropriate equipment, materials, and personnel needs.
• Inspect work areas and review work progress and performance to ensure projects are completed appropriately and efficiently.
• Identify and resolve work-related problems and assist with developing practical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with contract maintenance specifications for facilities, vehicles, and related work.
• Coordinate park maintenance and construction activities with other Town departments, divisions, outside agencies, contractors, community groups, and members of the public.

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the maintenance division.
• Assist with the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of department employees.
• Provide direction and support to employees in the completion of maintenance projects and daily assignments.
• Promote safe work practices and serve as a leader in maintaining a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all applicable OSHA requirements, Town policies, and Parks and Recreation Department safety guidelines.
• Provide leadership in organizing, communicating, and enforcing park rules.

• Provide oversight of the timely processing and payment of contractor invoices, including appropriate recordkeeping and general administration.
• Assist with budget preparation, administration, and financial control for maintenance-related operations.
• Prepare, maintain, and supervise a variety of departmental records, reports, and documentation.

• Respond to difficult complaints and requests for information and develop appropriate action plans to address concerns.
• Respond to and resolve difficult or sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints while maintaining a responsive and professional customer service philosophy.
• Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, contractors, Town departments, community organizations, and members of the public.

• Operate a motor vehicle as necessary to conduct Department and Town business.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Department leadership.
• This position is subject to the rules, policies, and operating procedures established by the Park and Recreation Board and the Town of Danville, as they may be amended from time to time.

• Experience and demonstrated ability in construction-related work, including electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry.
• Experience and demonstrated ability in mechanical work, including automotive and small-engine mechanics.
• Experience and demonstrated ability operating machinery and equipment, including tractors, mowers, vehicles, and other small-engine equipment.
• Experience and demonstrated ability in janitorial and facility maintenance work, including cleaning and general upkeep.

• Must possess and maintain a valid, verifiable Indiana Driver's License.
• Must maintain a demonstrated safe driving record and remain insurable through the Town's liability insurance carrier.
