ResponsibilitiesAs a Semi‑Skilled Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to maintaining the Norristown State Hospital. Your duties include:
- Working on various maintenance projects such as repairing heating and plumbing systems, painting, and electrical work.
- Assisting steamfitters in the boiler plant.
- Performing roadwork repair and groundskeeping duties.
- Using a variety of hand and power tools, and equipment.
- Maintaining laundry equipment.
- Clearing snow from sidewalks and parking lots.
- Cleaning various systems and areas around the hospital.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours:
2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch (hours may change based on operational needs). - Travel and overtime as needed.
- Free parking.
- Telework: This position does not allow telework.
- Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

- One year of experience in laboring work, including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction,
or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act, which requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
