Summary:

Responsible for demonstrating and promoting SRIM's core value of the Golden Rule, treating others (residents, families, and associates) in the same way we would like to be treated, and under direct supervision providing a variety of housekeeping and/or laundry duties while maintaining the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities
  • Follow established cleaning schedule.
  • Complete daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of all common areas.
  • Follow established schedule for "deep cleaning" of resident rooms.
  • Clean administrative offices as scheduled.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
  • Clean carpets and mop all floors upon request.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents.
  • Ensure and support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident, family and visitor requests for assistance.
  • Speak to and interact with residents showing empathy, kindness, compassion and respect.
  • Communicate effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment free of objects or situations that could cause harm or falls to residents, families, visitors and associates.
  • Practice good body mechanics and safe working habits.
  • Observe and report safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Provide assistance to associates when requested or required.
  • Know, understand and follow established policy and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Be considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather; required to report or remain at community until released by supervisor.
  • Work as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.
  • Always demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies and procedures.
  • Comply with attendance and call‑off policy.
  • Attend and/or participate in trainings, in‑service and mandatory meetings.
  • Wear clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy.
  • Refrain from discussing resident issues with families and visitors and refer all inquiries to immediate nursing supervisor.
  • Know, understand, and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide "hands‑on" assistance when requested or needed by nursing staff while working in the community.
  • Participate in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar.
  • Serve and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
  • Takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned or requested.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood borne pathogens.
