Position: Custodian - 4 hrs/day

Overview

Custodian - 4 hrs/day at SMART MIDDLE SCHOOL. Position type:
Custodial / Custodian.

Location:

Smart Junior High.

Schedule:

7:30 PM – 11:30 PM. Internal bids through 6/4/26 at 4:00 PM. New Hire rate: $17.84/hr (2025-26 rate); $18.17/hr effective 7/1/26. Up to a possible maximum $750.00/yr differential stipend available. Posting current as of 6/1/2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

Vacuum all areas – hard and soft surfaces
Reposition furniture correctly
Vacuum upholstered furniture
Assist with deep cleaning during break periods (stripping, scrubbing & recoat, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture)
Remove snow
Minor grounds keeping and lawn mowing
Assist with delivery of supplies
Properly maintain equipment
Report maintenance issues to Head & Lead Custodian
Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 56 lb.

Ability to climb up to an 8-ft ladder and perform custodial tasks (e.g., cleaning light fixtures).

Ability to climb stairs and work on uneven ground.

Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

Qualifications

In addition to these specific qualifications, the person must meet all the general qualifications listed in the Davenport Community School District custodian job description.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
